The Himalayan Damaru Bowl is Ruby and Suren’s joint venture and a new creation for sound healers, meditators, and music lovers. Ruby’s devotion to Lord Shiva inspired her for this creation and through lot of trials and errors and Suren guidance that this unique instrument became a reality.

The Daramu is often being held by Lord Shiva, symbolizing the rhythm of Universe and creation. The Damaru typically has two drumheads, which are connected by a string or cord that, when pulled, causes the drumheads to vibrate and produce a distinctive sound. The sound of Damaru represent the primal sound of the Universe, often referred to as “OHM”, the sacred sound of creation. It is considered a symbol of the duality of life, as it both a musical instrument and a spiritual object used in rituals and meditative practices. The Damaru is a key element in Shiva’s iconography.

Using the same principle, the Damaru Bowl or a double chalice are made combining 2 bowls with 2 different notes carefully chosen by our sound experts for the best resonant and harmonic quality of sound. The benefits of combining two bowls like this is that it is a convenient way to introduce two notes that harmonize with each other during a sound healing session. These bowls are hand hammered and carefully combined together using a wooden handle.

The Damaru bowls are made locally in Boulder, Colorado with love, pray, & care. They are shipped based on availability and specific notes upon request. Striker is included.

Damaru bowls are hand-forged and hammered by skilled artisans in Nepal. Unlike machine-made bowls, each handmade piece is unique in shape, color, and size. No two are exactly alike. These bowls are chosen for the quality of sound they produce, not for aesthetics (i.e. handles may not be perfectly straight, the bowls may not be perfectly flush with the handle, etc.)

While we do our best to accommodate specific requests for bowl notes and sizes, please be aware that our inventory is limited due to the small-batch, handcrafted nature of these items. Each piece is assembled by our team here in Boulder. Our selection prioritizes high-quality for sound healing purposes. If your request falls outside our current stock, we’ll work with you to hand-select or custom-craft the instrument that best suits your needs.
